Descendant
The point opposite the Ascendant. The relationship axis.
Definition
The Descendant is the point directly opposite the Ascendant in the natal chart. It marks the cusp of the seventh house, the house of one-to-one partnership, and is the sign that was setting on the western horizon at the moment of your birth.
In context
Where the Ascendant describes how you arrive, the Descendant describes what you are drawn to in close partnership and what the other person tends to bring into the relationship as their contribution. Together, the Ascendant and Descendant form the relational axis of the chart, and many practitioners read them as a single conversation about self and other.
