Definition
Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and, in astrology, the planet that governs the mind, communication, language, and the small daily exchanges that move information through a life. Its position in the natal chart describes how you think and how you speak.
In context
Mercury by sign describes your mental style, your communication patterns, and the kind of information environment you function best in. Mercury is also responsible for the famous retrograde periods, which happen three or four times a year and are widely associated with disruptions in travel, communication, and technology.
